"He has been demanding war with Iran for over a decade, in one instance dismissing concerns about the potential blowback by saying it would be over in 'days.' "
I seriously doubt he's right about that. I think iran would win a defensive war against the US. It's not obvious what country the US could use as a staging ground to invade Iran. If the US tried to invade via Iraq, I think the US would struggle even with defeating the Iraqi militias.
Great write. Anytime I hear dialogue from anyone in the current political arena, I am reminded why I am a political atheist. What a stupid system we live with.
If Trump is elected and war with Iran becomes inevitable, the abuse of anti-war protestors’ civil liberties during the US entry into WW1 (and today’s pro-Palestine protests on college campuses) will pale in comparison to what awaits under Garland’s Justice Department.
Hope is dangerous, especially if you place it in politicians. I thought Trump would bring something new, some real changes, but in the end, he might end up in the pockets of the elites, possibly being more dangerous to world peace than Biden.
The risk I see is that if israel does something unethical, trump will simply take credit for it. I'm concerned that liberals in the US will waste their time attacking Trump instead of going after israel.
Is Jill Stein not on your horizon? I keep seeing her clearly articulating plans that benefit everyday Americans - while, yes, the others clearly, at best, don't give a shit about the citizens. So many people are struggling! And she and her party look like the only ones trying to oppose the machine, and actually work to save real Americans, not the rich. I don't live in the US, but from the outside this seems obvious. Just trying to understand. As the discussion here points out, the US affects everyone.
There was a time when wild card Trump might be the proverbial bull in the imperial china shop busting up (or at least shaking up) US war mongering aa the method to preserve world hegemony.
Alas, he turned out to be an ego-maniac, fake populist. He is a whore for money and power and thus ripe for the plucking by powerful, wealthy donors and political brokers who barely conceal their Zionism and penchant for profiting from war and militarism.
These are the very last people any rational person would pick to crew a waning empire. Then, again, the Dem wing of the political class has steered the Titanic along the same course. With Captain Don at the helm, it'll be full steam ahead.
Great article.

Very eye-opening article!

Followed you for several years, Joseph, you've made a difference in my life. Subscribing to give back a little. Doing great work as always.
Thank you so much Rhodes! It's always meaningful when people tell me that.

Yeah I’ve cooled off on Trump and this article articulates very well why.
Thing is, no matter who you choose they all unconditionally support Israel including RFK jr.
So what does it matter anyways?

Thank you for the courage to point out that Trump is not our friend.

Nice. I had not seen that clip before. The begining of his run? He seemed so sincere….
